Q1: Do I have to pay for adverts?

You will only have to pay for certain adverts depending on the classification you have chosen, the publication the advert is going to and the type of advert you wish to place. Adverts that require a payment have the price clearly labelled on Step 4 (Choose Advert Style) of the Place an Advert process.

Costs may vary according to the duration of the booking, you can choose the duration of these adverts on Step 6 (Advert Booking) of the Place an Advert process.

Q2: How long does my advert stay on the website?

Adverts stay online for the duration of the booking. This starts from the day that your advert is accepted by our staff.

Q3: Will my advert be printed in an Ad Trader paper?

Adverts placed via the website will automatically be sent to the publication you choose on Step 2 (Choose Publication) of the Place an Advert process and will appear using the style of advert you choose on Step 4 (Choose Advert Style) of the Place an Advert process.

If you choose the Digital Publication the adverts will NOT appear in the Ad Trader publications.

Q4: Can I have a photo with my advert?

Yes, you can attach a Photo to all adverts online. However, only Photo Box style ads have the photo printed in the Publication. Photos must be in one of the following formats: JPEG, GIF or PNG.

Q5: Why doesn't my telephone number show on my adverts?

Telephone numbers are not displayed on the advert listings but are displayed when you click on the Advert Detail link. All telephone numbers beginning with 070 are Ad Trader Private Response numbers. More information about this service.

Q6: Why has my phone number changed to an 070 number?

070 is the code for the Customer Protection Numbers. More information about this service.

Q7: I have looked for my Advert but can't find it. How do I find my advert?

The best way to find your advert is to use the website search. Enter a keyword that appears in your advert and the postcode you used in your registered profile into the relevant boxes. This will bring your advert to the top of the page plus any other adverts that match the criteria.

Q8: There is an error on my advert, can I change it?

Yes, you can change your adverts as long as the publication deadline has not passed. Make sure you are logged in to your account first, then click on the "Your Adverts" link in the My Ad Trader box in the top left of the screen. You can change any advert you have placed by clicking on the "Edit" Button. If the edit button is not highlighted either the deadline has passed or your advert is being vetted.

Q9: I don't want the advert anymore, can I delete it?

Yes, you can delete your adverts. Make sure you are logged in to your account first, then click on the "Your Adverts" link in the My Ad Trader box in the top left of the screen. Then you can delete any advert you have placed by clicking on the "Delete" Button.

However, if your advert has run it?s booking period you will not be able to delete it.

Q10: Can I move my advert to a different classification?

Due to the way we handle classifications you cannot move your advert to another classification once it has been placed.

Q11: My advert is wrong in the Ad Trader publication

Should you have a problem with an advert printed in an Ad Trader paper please contact them direct, details can be found on the Publications pages. Ads are occasionally altered in vetting to bring the important details to the beginning of the advert, whilst every care is taken occasionally errors can occur. Please contact our Helpdesk to correct this.

Q12: How do I place an advert online?

Before you placed an advert you will need to register on our site. There are 7 simple steps to placing an advert on AdTrader.co.uk. After you have registered we will be able to assist you in the future by automatically using these details when you next place your adverts.

Step 1

Choose what type of advertiser you are, i.e. Private or Business.

Step 2

Choose the Publication you would like your advert to appear in by entering your postcode or click on the relevant area of the map.

Step 3

Choose the classification that matches your item. To do this enter a keyword that describes the item you wish to advertise or alternatively, you can browse to a suitable classification.

Step 4

Choose the appropriate style for your advert from the list, this will indicate if there is a charge required. Some classifications have no Free Ad option.

Step 5

On the Advert Build page, your contact details will be taken from the details you supplied when in your Account Details. However if you wish to change any of these information click on the link. Changes must be made before the advert is placed.

Next enter your advert text, describing the item, please note the word limit. Every advert placed online allows you to attach an image, your email address or web link can be shown, but this depends on the style of advert you have chosen.

Please note: By placing an advert with Ad Trader, you agree to be bound by our Terms and Conditions. Unfortunately, visitors who do not agree with the Terms and Conditions cannot place an advert with Ad Trader. More information on our Terms and Conditions.

Step 6

On the Advert Booking page you can preview your advert and confirm that all the advert details are correct. If changes are needed you can click on the change link next to the incorrect details.

Step 7

You will receive an email when your advert has been successfully accepted, However, if you have placed a paid for advert you will be presented with a list of adverts to pay for. This allows you to confirm or delete the transaction and also allows you to place more adverts before completing your transactions.

Q13: Refunds

All advert bookings are taken in good faith, once a paid for advert has been accepted by us it is non refundable unless there are extenuating circumstances. Once an item has been sold it is possible to delete the booking, however no part refunds are given.
